Daddy Dave turned 60 on June 8, the Big Benny Boy turned 26 on July 30, and Mom Karen will hit the big 60 on August 27.
I know, I know, everyone’s thinking, “But I can’t afford three birthday presents fer Pete’s sake!”
So here’s three presents for the price of one.
Or more accurately, one donation to Monarch Lifeworks will make three of us feel very, very good.
As their mission statement says, “Lifeworks is a nonprofit organization committed to ensuring that adults with autism have more independent and enriched lives by providing opportunities to learn, engage socially, and participate in meaningful work.”
And boy, do they succeed. Ben and many others suffering from severe autism would agree, and the fact that we can sleep at night knowing they are in good hands attached to good hearts is the best gift any of us could ever receive.
So this is our chance to try and give something back. No donation is too small to help in a big way. No donation is too big, either, even if we have find more wheelbarrows to haul the cash.
And thanks, truly, from Ben, Karen and Dave Royko
