Linus’s security blanket in the Peanuts world is Ben’s books in his world. If you have ever seen a picture of Benny boy (or Benny man), you have seen a book in hand or within reach.
Before each visit, his mom throws a handful, or more like an armful of books on a bed to survey while he’s here.
As often happens when we leave, like this time, we headed down the hall on our way out and as I was pushing the elevator button, I realized he had doubled back to the apartment — Ben’s buyer’s remorse.
But having returned to the Lending Bed Library for a few more minutes, we left with the exact right book. Or at least it was exact enough that we made it to the elevator this time without another turnaround.
